I See Myself In You
Documenting other Black artists, especially Black men, is enriching for many reasons..
It’s an inevitable self portrait.
It’s representation and inspiration.
As a child, a Black male artist wasn’t a tangible reality for me.
Of course I saw musicians, rappers, and many people’s Black artistic reference point: Basquiat..
But I never really saw in person or met Black visual artists.. definitely not a Black male visual artist.
Always remember the influence you have on those around you and the youth just by being an example of what’s possible.
